Leslie McDonald is a holistic health and wellness coach, currently enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She holds a BA and MSPC degrees from Clark University, where she met her best friend and husband, Ryan. Leslie has spent 6 years in the corporate advertising and finance world before focusing on working with people to be the happiest and healthiest versions of themselves. Her approach to wellness does not just focus on the foods you eat, but also on the relationships you have, your career choices and physical activity. Leslie believes that when all of these building blocks are in balance, the food that you eat becomes somewhat secondary. While diet is very important, Leslie believes in balance in all ways. You can find her most mornings before the sun rises at yoga or working out, at home cooking with Ryan, at the dog park with her rescue dog, Sadie, or starting the day with a green smoothie in one hand and dark chocolate in the other. At the age of 26 after living 8 years with 2 autoimmune conditions (ulcerative colitis and iritis) having my large intestine removed, and then experiencing burnout and multiple hormonal imbalances, I decided to take my life into my own hands and started a journey of self-discovery that’s still going today. I started taking herbs, changed my diet, eliminated triggers and toxins, started doing yoga, awakened my mind and soul to new ways of thinking, discovered meditation and energy medicine and started to study naturopathic nutrition.
I’ve been working to support people at the grassroots for 7 years now and it’s my life’s purpose to continue this work with a focus on health and wellbeing.
I’ve set up a wellness clinic – The Earth Clinic where I offer nutritional therapy, health, wellness and career coaching, mentoring, reiki, training and Hopi ear candling. My vision is to support people to live full and happy lives, free from dis-ease, pain, trauma and oppression and to assist the evolution of our planet. I am a health and fitness enthusiast and linguist, from rural Herefordshire, England. I am enjoying inspiring and encouraging woman to be healthy, enjoy exercise and embrace who they are and what they can do. When I first began my fitness journey, I had no idea where to start or what I was doing. There was no one to lead me through or give me tips on what, where and when. I never thought it was possible to get where I am today – I thought people who looked fit and healthy were a special breed; you were either born that way or not. This I now know to be totally false, anyone can do it with enough hard work and belief. Originally, my blogging began when I was I was living abroad for a year whilst at university. I blogged to keep friends and family up to date with what I was doing but also as a memory to look back on. I loved writing and sharing my words. When I became a fitness fanatic, I decided to share my passion for both and combine the two.
Ironically, it was in my final year of Psychology at University that I experienced first-hand the raw, visceral effect of pressure and stress on my physiology and I decided I was sick of sabotaging my health for a certain outcome that may never actually eventuate. I had heard about meditation before but it had always seemed too difficult to still my chaotic mind. I gave it a go and began meditating regularly, immediately discovering the profound effects that it had on all aspects of my life: study, work, relationships, health. I’m still meditating and I genuinely believe that the world would be a much better place if everyone incorporated a mind stress relief technique into their lives. It’s obvious for us to exercise, eat healthy, and clean our bodies, but when do we ever stop and clear out the junk in our mind?
